DockDogs is having their National Championships next weekend, Oct. 16-18. Both Sally and Spud have qualified to compete, so we are definitely going. It will be so awesome. They will have FOUR docks/pools going simultaneously!
But, in addition to qualifying for the Championships, Sally has also qualified for Iron Dog. That means she has titled and been nationally ranked in all three DockDog disciplines (Big Air, Extreme Vertical, and Speed Retrieve).
The Championships are going to be held at Kings Island Resort in Mason, Ohio. (outside of Cincinnati) If you can come watch, it will be a great way to spend the day....lots of action and fun!
What this means is that she is entered in these events at the Championships:
- Qualifying Senior Big Air round
- Senior Bonus Big Air round
- Qualifying Cadet Extreme Vertical round
- Cadet Bonus Extreme Vertical round
- Qualifying Turbo Speed Retrieve round
- Turbo Bonus Speed Retrieve round
- Iron Dog Big Air round
- Iron Dog Extreme Vertical
- Iron Dog Speed Retrieve
Whew! That is going to be one worn out dog. And to be perfectly honest, she has absolutely no chance of winning anything or even qualifying for the finals. There will be too many big jumping dogs.
But the point is not her winning or qualifying for finals, the point is that she will spend all weekend doing what she loves most in the whole world!
Of course, by the end of the weekend, she might need oxygen.
And I better find someone who can push me around in a wheelchair!

How fun and exciting! I sure hope it warms up as the weather here in Ohio is cold!! Its 36 out now and I believe they have been calling for highs in the 40's and 50's for this coming week. (we live just a little over an hour north of Kings Island). Are they holding it outside or inside one of their buildings?

Good luck to Sally and Spud. Have a wonderful time and be sure to take lots of pictures. We expect to see a few of the other two also.![]()

Politicians and diapers should be changed frequently and all for the same reason.

It's outside. 40's and 50's are fine. We (and most other dock diving fools like us) are prepared for cold weather with blankets and dog coats and shamwows to keep them dried off. Here are Sally and Spud in their coats:
We've jumped in much colder weather. Here is a shot of Sally and me on the dock last November in Maryland. It was FREEZING!
