    Default Stiff & Sore

I've noticed since Libby & Willy are getting older that running around in this deep snow is starting to be kind of hard on them. They love it outside in the snow and we clear paths for them to get to the woods to do their business and we have paths all around the house for them to play. But I still take them on walks in the woods and out to the field where they like to try to find mice, etc under the snow. It's quite deep out there now and it's kind of hard for them to get around.

Yesterday we went for an extended walk up behind the house to the top of the hill to explore in the pines. After a couple of hours we went back to the house and they had their supper and lay down to rest. Except for the last potty break, they were in for the night. After sleeping a couple hours Willy went to get up and could hardly walk. He gets a stiff hind end usually, but last night he was limping on his front leg too. Libby gets a little stiff but not as bad as Willy and she's usually okay after she walks around a bit. His didn't seem like it was going away. I always give them both a pill when we come inside, because I know this happens. I felt so bad for poor Willy. I had to help him onto the bed last night to sleep because he didn't want to jump up.

Now I'm afraid to walk him tonight. I try every night so that they get their exercise. But I think tonight we'll take it easy. It makes me sad to think they're getting older and won't be able to do this stuff without pain.

Aw. I hope his soreness eases up. I agree on going light for a while, though.

Aw poor babies You have them both on joint meds already, right? I think I remember a post but I'm not sure.

I understand. It is hard to see them getting older. Molly just turned 7 and after playing hard or running in the field she will be a little slow getting up. It makes me feel bad.

Koko is 7 too and struggles after medium level play. I have her on dasiquin and Lubrisyn and salmon oil and apple cider vinegar. Haven't seen any results yet. I will keep trying new things till I do!

I am so going through this with Princess, but she is really bad. It really is hard watching them have problems. She is on meds now and it really is helping her but it has not made her all better. I just wish it would. I do believe the pain has been relieved for her unless she has been lying for a long time then she does not want to get up.

Yes, they're both on meds. And they get fish oil and gluc/cond too. I just don't think they're that old yet, but I better take it easy on them in this deep snow. It obviously bothers them. They were both fine last night, itching to go walking, but I made them play inside. We played hide 'n seek and had fun with bones instead.

Poor Princess. I know she's a good bit older than mine and is having some troubles. Hope she feels better soon.
