Talk to your vet and have something like Rimadyl or Deramaxx on hand at your house to give when they are really sore. I keep Rimadyl in my cupboard and use it when my dogs have over done it. They are just like us, and sometimes we need an Aleve or two as well.

Rimadyl is what I give them. I didn't know I could give them both.

Skippy has been sore for quite a while, and I noticed this year that he will come in sooner from playing in the snow. Emilu is my "young girl", but she is almost 7 and from the way she tears around outside, it's hard to think of her as "getting older", but she comes up a little lame in her front leg every once in a while too - makes me realize that both of my dogs are on the "older" side now.
