Moka came home today!!! She is doing very well....although it is going to be a long, tough road. Harder than I was anticipating.....she cannot run, jump or play for at least the next 4 weeks, so we have to keep her and Java pretty much separated for now. Moka is only allowed 3 (yes, 3 ) 5 minute walks PER DAY. That is it!!! No walking around the house freely or anything. We can wlak her 3 times a day (besides potty breaks) and the rest of the time she needs to be resting. So...alot of crate time for Moka for the next 4 weeks. The metal plate will have to stay on for 12 (!!!) weeks. She will have to be sedated and have x-rays and have a physical exam in 3 weeks, then again at 6 weeks, 9 weeks and finally removal at 12 weeks. We have to put a bag over her leg every time we take her out to potty (oh that's fun). She is on 3 different meds right now.
BUT-she's home!!!! She was so happy to see us that she peed all the way down the hall until the tech got her to us!!
Here are a couple of pictures....it's not pretty, but she looks great to me!!! The plate is attached to the inside part of her leg, but on top of her skin and fur. It has pins and screws that go right through her bones and actually stick out from her skin, which is why she has the weird cast/bandage thing on her leg...at least it's decorated for Christmas!! There is alot of swelling and bruising still...you can see it in the pictures, and the stitches go all the way up her leg!!!
I will update again tomorrow when I have more time...thank you to EVERYONE for your donations, thoughts and prayers...they were very much needed and sooo appreciated during the last 2 days from hell!!!
Here's Moka!!

P.S. Total cost so far for our ordeal......$851 for Sunday night emergency hospital visit, $3884.25 for surgery and hospital stay.
We have many, many weeks of follow up visits still to go.....what an expensive lesson I have learned!!!

I'm so glad your baby's home with you! It's all uphill from here! Hugs to her.
She looks so happy to be home. Continued thoughts and prayer will be coming your way. Be a good girl and rest up Moka, and no more trouble for a while now. I don't think mommy could take it.
So glad she is home. I hope the weeks fly by for all of you!
Just to share a little from my own experience with ACL surgery... instead of looking at the many many weeks ahead of you, just deal with in ONE DAY AT A TIME. Get through one day, and then head to the next with a new attitude. Hang in there.
Poor baby. So glad she's home.

Welcome home Moka!
Glad to hear that she is home. Well of course she can only go out for 5 minutes at a time, any more than that and her poor leg will get cold! That is quite a shaving job, but I am glad they left her foot furry.![]()
