Okay, I have been on the weight watchers program for amost a year, have lost only 15 pounds (because even when dedicated I am not all that good at staying on plan, and am finding myself depressed and unmotivated.. When I started I was so rady to go out there and get skinny, I was on fire. But now I feel like blah, who cares? So, I was wondering, could anyone share ideas that help keep them motivated? I am running out of steam and I have 45 more pounds to loose....
Is there someone you admire? Someone with a beautiful figure that you like? I keep a picture of Charlize Theron in my purse... everytime I go to buy something bad I see her there and it helps me think if I really want it or not. You can always put it on your fridge ...... here is my inspirational photo at the moment:
I shop when I feel motivated (ie: after a good work out) and then I buy less crappy food... so if it's not in the house then I can't eat it!
I exercise with a friend
I also measure myself rather than weigh myself, your weight may not change especially if you are doing weight bearing exercise ... you are more likely to see your measurements change. It's very motivating. Especially after about 3 months and you have your recordings infront of you and you see that you've lost inches around your butt!!
My friend who I train with has lost 6kgs so far. At the gym this morning I gave her a 6kg weight and she was gobsmacked that she used to carry that 6kgs around all day. That's almost 15lbs.... you should go and grab something that weighs about 15lbs and pick it up. Then ask yourself if you want to put it back on your hips, thighs, butt etc....
I am very bad with motivation. I have been exercising for 3-4months and hardly seen a weight change. But this morning I jogged on the treadmill for 5 minutes straight......... :surprise: 3 months ago I couldn't have done 30 seconds. Fitness improvement is really a big motivation for me... I always feel GREAT after exercising.
Good Luck!! Keep posting in here... we'll help you keep motivated!!
And try to look at the good things you have done. If you are exercising, have you improved? IE: Can you do 20 situps instead of 10? If so, that's AWESOME!
You've kept off that 15lbs for a whole year! That is also spectacular! Keeping it off is a real challenge.... I think that is a great achievement in itself.
keep looking forward, it takes baby steps one day at a time. (((hugs)))
I viewed my weighloss in little chunks. 2-3 lb per week increments. If I tried to think of it as losing 65lbs all in one shot, I'd've given up; The finish line was just too far off in the distance. So I made it from Tuesday to Tuesday (my weigh-in day) and looked only as far ahead as the following week. I also charted EACH loss week-to-week. It was definitely motivating to look back over a month and see 12 lbs gone.....
I also celebrated like hell the milestones -- 10 lbs gone. That's two sacks of sugar or flour. And when my pants size dropped from a 40" waist to a 38"... to a 36".... to a 34".... (did a downright jig when I hit my present measurement of 32").
Also - Now that I'm doing cardio, I also take it one day at a time. I started running back in May. I'd go once around our circle (about 1/4 of a mile). When I could do that without collapsing, I'd go 2x. And slowly built up endurance. I'm now going about 2 miles per day, every day......
Is there a Slimming World over there? I liked that better than Weight Watchers as I could eat all day long if i wanted and I didnt find it tempting to snack on junk. I lost a good 16lbs from May till September..obviously not doing it now but will return once baby is born
My kids are keeping me motivated, I need to lose weight for my health.
DD and DS will both be graduating this year, one from College, the other from the Police Academy, I see lots of family photos in my future!! That's all the motivation I needOh and the closet full of clothes I can no longer wear   Good luck, it is tough hang in there!
One tuckered pooch!
Politicians and diapers should be changed frequently and all for the same reason.
