Gah. We just had our big annual BBQ. I was supposed to have lost 10lbs for this thing. Nope. Not an ounce. I did gain a pound over the weekend. But that was expected. I'm not even going to log what I ate/drank over the weekend into the Daily Plate. I am too ashamed.
So....okay. We have 2 big parties a year. The annual BBQ and our "Post-Thanksgiving Recovery Party" - the day after Thanksgiving we have all our friends over to commiserate about the day before with their families - they bring leftovers and tales of woe...and we go through several bottles of wine.
Well I want to lose at least 15 lbs before that next party. I want my weight loss to be noticeable and I want to be able to wear something cute that I won't be embarrassed in. So...here we go!
I currently weigh about 145 and I'm barely 5' 4. My fighting weight is 120...but I don't expect to see that again. If I can get back down to 130 - 2 dress sizes - I will be a very happy camper.
New plan:
1. Use Daily Plate and stick to it.
2. cut out all unnecessary carbs and sugars
3. Eat WAY more protein and veggies
4. Go heavier on the veggies and lighter on the fruits
5. Sit-ups
6. Weight training (3 x week)
7. Up the cardio - if I don't walk the dogs for a least an hour (in 2 1/2 hour sessions) then I get my butt down to the treadmill
8. Weekends - HIT THE TREADMILL and hard. I can't do it during the week - so I have to commit to time on the weekends.
9. Take daily vitamin
Any other suggestions/recommendations greatly appreciated!![]()

Drink a lot of water. Stay hydrated.
Realize that the workouts ***MAY*** not affect the scale the way you want: Muscle weighs more than fat. But you're 'fitter.' So you may be way more healthy by Tksgiving but still the same weight. Or only marginally 'lighter.'
Are there no weight loss groups in the US? Its the only way i have been able to loose weight just thinking about getting on those scales weekly has been enough to scare me into shape
There are - Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig...and I know many who have had huge success with them. But I don't want to spend the money on buying their food and going to their meetings or use special menus. I don't have the time or the energy for that. I know the way to lose weight for me is to eat less, eat healthy and exercise. The old fashioned way.Originally Posted by kaznalf

Just keep telling yourself that your goal is more important then the cookie, cake etc.
I'm struggling too trying not to backslide.

There was no way in hell I was joining any organized methodology for weight-loss. Didn't want to count points, go to meeting, submit myself to public weigh-ins, read celeb testimonials, guzzle disgusting shakes, nibble on hi-fibre cookies, or get involved in any of that.
Which is why SB worked. Trim the carbs. Stick to the recommended food items. Eat 'til full. Drop the weight. The only plan that has ever fit my lifestyle.....
That's what I've been doing too!Originally Posted by Linda1
