I think part of the reason I've been successful this go 'round rather than all others is that I learned something really basic about how/why I eat.
For instance: I am the type of person who would rather shut the door on an entire group of bad-for-me food (sweets/chips/carbs) altogether, and make other choices. Rather than be a 'nibbler' or a 'dabbler.' Eileen is a nibbler-dabbler. She can diet and have ONE-HALF cupcake. Or TEN Jelly Beans. And be content.
Me?
One Reece cup leads to two more, which leads to five. And then a dozen. Long after I should stop, I eventually would stop, feeling both sick and guity. I cannot monitor. There is no such thing to me as a 'small' portion of ice cream. The bowl has to be brimming with the stuff.
And so in the absence of any control, I've chosen to cut it out entirely. It's not like a person NEEDS ice cream to live (Did **I** just say that??!?!?!?!?!!? OMG, I must be ill!). Or malty balls. Or Pringles.
I feel like I've just gotten out of a terrible marriage, divorcing myself from this crud. It was fun while it lasted. But I can very contentedly do without another Butterfinger or Zagnut for the rest of my life.
Quite the revelation about me.
Congratulations! I think that is why SB is so effective; it takes some foods completely off your radar.
I'm Jenn. Keeper of two labs in my home and one forever in my heart.
Throw the ball, damn it!
I'm glad you found what works for you.
I HAVE to have my sweets, so like Eileen, I count, measure etc. But, I find I'm doing something that isn't healthy. For example, in the morning I would usually have a piece of fruit. Now I skip the fruit and use those calories for my cookie or chocolate.

I could never ever ever ever live the rest of my life without icecream. No way. No How.
