Default HELP! I hit the mother of all plateaus!!!!

Alright buddies...I am here looking for some help....I am faithful and have stayed true to the WW program for over a year now...and my work has paid off...I am 100+ lbs lighter...however, coming into the holidays, I leveled off. And I don't think it's because I indulged in the holiday goodies either.

I lost the week of Thanksgiving. The week after I mantained. The following week I gained, then I maintained, then I lost big (3.4 lbs), and lost a 1 lb during Christmas. This week I gained...ALOT. 3.6 lbs. So essentially, for the past 6 weeks, I have gained and lost to the point I am the same weight I was 6 weeks ago.

I still work out 6 days a week, but I switched to all cardio to try and rev up my metabolism. I didn't want to try and do the 20 points a day quick start program because I am earning like 9 AP a day with all of the running I am doing and I didn't want my body to go into starvation mode.

I haven't gone over in points.....I have enjoyed a few more goodies...but I am always with in points.

I am VERY frustrated right now as was averaging about 10 lbs a month up until 6 weeks ago. I still have so much work to do...

Dani, I'm not much help but wondered if you had heard of the Wendie Plan?

It's still WW, they just change things up a bit when you hit that plateau.

BTW, congratulations on all your hard work and losses.

I was going to suggest this. Also, I know someone who did the kickstart and lost 6.8. You could just try it for one week. Then go back to your regular plan. With the way your doing now, it couldn't hurt. Oh, and you still have the 35 plus your AP's in addition to the 20 a day for that week.

No advice. Just encouragement that your metabolism kicks in again w/the new year and that scale starts going in the right direction again!

really other than to look at your food routine and see if you can change it up? I know I hit plateus the last time I was on WW because I ate the same food all the time.

Maybe completely changing the menu would help rev things up a bit.

Oh and BTW....CONGRATS on losing that much weight. You are a huge inspiration for me to get back on WW.

When I hit a plateau, I changed up what I had been eating. I get stuck in a rut (which I'm in right now) and noticed I even lost 1 lb. over Christmas after eating too much rum cake! :-\ That with more water. If that doesn't work, I've also done the Wendy plan for a week and got things moving again then, too. I'm on a plateau again...maintaining....frustrating! Need to exercise more, I guess.

Have you tried zigzaging your points. One day eat more then the next eat less. Changing it up is always good. Are you almost at a level where it's time to change your points or did you just change them?
Changing exerise is good. Maybe even cut it back for a week and then bring it back up. Or if you are exerising alot maybe you need more food. I'm no help am I LOL there is so many things that could help .. you just have to try one for a week or so and see if it helps/

That's what I was going to suggest. Try eating less for three days, and then eat at maintenance for one day.

Also you could try a different kind of exercise. Maybe a new challenge for yourself. How about learning how to do a pushup if you can't. Of if you can do a pushup, try to learn how to do a chin-up. Or add sprints to your cardio. Anything that gets you motivated.

Congratulations on your weight loss so far. I know how hard it is to do that.

I had to lose a ton of weight due to diabetes last year. Dropped 80 pounds so far. Whenever I hit a plateau, I try and drink more water, and change up my exercise routine. Instead of walking for distance, I will try to see if I can walk 9 minute miles, anything to get quicker, or more intense, as opposed to just "doing more." I think the biggest thing for me is to exercise right before bedtime. It has worked for me so far. Still have a few more pounds to go.

Good luck and keep it up!

I have tried zig zagging points, but since I am now training to run a 5K, I am increasing the number of AP I accrue, and I am finding myself hungrier. I had considered the WW 20 points kickstart program, but I don't want my body going into starvation mode and kill my metabolism.

I had a loss this week, I am going to try and eat less points and hopefully follow up with a second loss this week. THanks for all of the suggestions people!
