I was thin growing up and through my twenties and early thirties. I gained a few pounds in my mid thirties, lost it in my late thirties.....only to gain a whole lot more in my forties. I've dieted on and off, but I'm determined this time to get back to a healthy weight. My sister (eight years my senior) recently had two heart attacks and had to have stents placed. Ironically she had just lost about 40/50 pounds and I thought she looked great. It really makes you think. I'm currently down about 35 pounds from my top ever weight, but I have quite a ways to go yet. I'm certainly not starving myself because I know that doesn't work long term. I find that frequent small healthy meals are the way to go for me. I'm actually eating well....just smaller meals and no crap food. I'm just looking at it five pounds at a time rather than the whole amount that I need to lose. That way it doesn't seem such a huge feat. I've started going for walks again and I notice that I'm not getting as winded going up hill as I was. It may take me awhile to reach my goal (not sure exactly where that is yet), but I feel more determined than I have in years and I'm really not having much trouble so far staying away from unhealthy foods and snacks. My sister's problems have really got me thinking.
It doesn't look like too many people are posting to this part of JL right now.
