Not good.
Have a very long slog ahead of me
Kind thoughts and encouragement please x
You can do it if you want toDo you have a picture of yourself,(back when you were skinny), that you can stick on the fridge door? Weight Watchers works, IF you stay with the program. Good luck. Sending you "skinny" thoughts

How did your first week go? Hope you did well.

Lost two and a half pounds. I was a little disappointed as usually lose more the first week but hey-can't really complain :-)
Congratulations! Anything in the minus range would make me happy.

I started Weight Watchers last January...I weighed in almost 15 pounds heavier than I thought I weighed (I thought I weight 155...on their scale, I weighed 173...it was at night and fully dressed, but still was shocking!), I lost almost 8 pounds in 3 months (actually lost 7 the first month and I think almost 5 the first week), then fell off the wagon, gained most of it back and dropped out (I got depressed watching other people lose several pounds a week while I would gain or lose .2 )...didn't really think about it for a few months and this summer I decided I needed to make some sort of change...while I am not officially "enrolled" in WW, I went and bought one of their 3 month food journals, I write down EVERYTHING I eat, took my measurements and track everything the way they taught. I also got back to spin class 2 times a week and work out and additional 2-3 times a week...I have lost between 15-20 pounds (depends which scale I use and what time of the day I weigh myself), but more importantly, I lost inches, I am back in clothes I haven't fit into in years and I am feeling SOOO much better...I went back to a meeting a month ago thinking if I weighed in on their scale I would feel more encouraged; however, the original people that worked there were gone and I didn't get the warm fuzzies from the new ones so I bought a box of chocolate mint bars and left.
One of the most valuable things I have learned over the past few months is that while you need to track points, you really need to be cognoscente of what points you are eating...when I first started I was so focused on finding the most snacks for the least amount of points as opposed to making healthy decisions and sprinkling "snack" points in.
Since college, I have always been a yo yo dieter...my weight has varied from 125 - 173...I used to be able to drop 5-10 pounds a month but I guess age is catching up to me...I am only averaging about 4 pounds a month which considering how hard I work is kind of a bummer, but I really feel I can live with the way I eat and work out long term (hopefully for life) as opposed to "until I lose the weight"...I have also come to the realization that I have an addiction to food and I will NEVER have a "normal" relationship with food...I will ALWAYS have to track what I eat and manage my "points" if I want to stay fit and trim...I currently weigh around 150 give or take a pound or 2 (this was my "first" goal)...my next goal is 140 and my final goal is between 130 and 135...I am taking it 10 pounds at a time and whatever happens, happens.
How much are you trying to lose? What is your first goal?
There are a lot of people on this board that struggle with weight...while this is not a diet board, I often find people's posts comforting![]()
I need to lose about 75lbs :-0
Sounds terrible when it's broken down but I have my positive head on now. I agree that it is so important to track everything.I am doing it online as well as going to class each week. The online tools are great-suggestions, recipes etc. My biggest challenge is weekends, particularly Saturday nights when a group of us usually get together for Chinese or Indian takeaway and wine. Now and again one of us will cook and that is usually the healthier option. I just try to be sensible during the weekend and eat mostly what I want on the evening. Wish me luck
You can do it! Break it into small goals instead of looking at it as 75 pounds...10 pounds here, 5 pounds there...
I too struggle with temptation...I try to be good during the week and work out 4-5 times a week...this gives me approximately 12-15 additional "activity points"...then I save the extra 35 for the "splurge night"...35 actually goes pretty far if you make SOMEWHAT reasonable choices. One of my friends did WW and lost 47 pounds in about 6 months...she is in her late 50s and I was impressed that she lost so much so fast...then, I got discouraged because I wasn't seeing the same results...turns out, she doesn't use ANY of her 35 points...I made the decision that I would rather lose the weight slower, but never feel deprived (I usually use all of the 35 points)
I have ZERO willpower, I am naturally lazy and I have a tremendous sweet tooth (ANY junk food appeals to me)...if I can do it, ANYONE can do it!! Gotta start somewhere!![]()
Good for you! You can SOOOOO do this!
I started last October with 100lbs to lose. I broke it down to "I want to be down 10lbs by Christmas" and "10lbs more before Christmas" which is where I am now. That way I have little goals to celebrate what kind of awesome job I am doing (and for every goal I get to eat chocolate covered almonds for a day! LOL)
I have a bit more of a way to go, but I can say if there is any one thing that WORKS for me on a diet its drinking a ton of water. A bottle an hour is what I try to do, I run 5 miles every second day (its now treadmill season) and then go spinning 3 times a week and most importantly, ride my bike to work everyday, depending on the weather. Not only am I skinnier, I am also more fit.
Good luck to you!
