It's been so long, I don't remember when I switched my cats from kitty chow to adult kibble.
I checked the Purina website and it just says "from 7 months to a year" cats should be fed twice a day, instead of "free range" as I do now for Hope. (She is just 6 months old.) I always fed my adult cats on the twice-a-day plan, when the dogs eat.
But it doesn't mention when to make the gradual change from kitty food to adult. I'm thinking 1 year, but maybe that's too long for her to be on kitten kibble?
Thanks for your input.

I'm sorry, but I've no idea. Shadow was a year old. We thought Little cat might be a kitten, but the vet said about a year by teeth, so I've never had a kitten.
Ya know I can't really remember what I did for BamBam( My 3 yr old now)
I'm thinking it was around 9mths- 1yr but I can't promise that.
I'm figuring on the new kitten we've rescued I'll play it by ear.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Good question! The vet estimates Kitty Kai to be 7- 8 months now. He is still on kitten food. He helped himself to a taste of Dooley's( 7 yr old cat) food and didn't like it at all! I was guessing we would start swiching over around 10-11 months, just because it would be easier to have them on the same food.![]()

Iams, Pedigree, Purina (and one other I can't remember offhand) recommend the 1 year mark for switching. If memory serves (HAH!) that seems about right to me. Maybe that 9 month - 1 year window.
I guess we just have to use that as a guideline and gauge our kittens' growth and needs accordingly.
Thanks so much for your replies.![]()

I would watch her weight. If she starts to get pudgy, time to switcheroo.![]()

That's what I'm thinking, too, Kate. Especially since she way spayed so young! She's a mighty active little thing and looks good so far, but I'll keep an eye on weight. Thanks.![]()
