Default Anyone else toilet training their cat?

My cats are ALMOST done learning how to use the human toilet! Right now I have an aluminum roasting pan with a little bit of litter floating on the water, but I can't seem to remove the pan or the litter or they start crapping all over the freakin house!!! I'll get it outta there one day.

    Check it out!

i've been training them for over 6 months. Patience is sooo important. They had a TON of accidents while they were learning, but now they have learned to sit on the toilet seat and pee into the toilet as opposed to sitting IN the toilet lol. Gotta find a way to get rid of that blasted roasting pan, i've tried but then the "rebellion craps" start lol

I have to say, the first time I saw a video of a cat "pottying" on the toilet my face was like this: ...now I think about it, its a little odd, but also quite cool. You must save a bundle on cat litter.

I can't imagine what it would be like for a visitor walking in on your cat while on the toilet...

One of the vets at my work thought he'd try to train our 3 clinic cats to use the toilet and it never worked and now one of them thinks it's ok to pee on the counters and in the sinks instead. What a great idea! Not! So now when he pees on something like that I just say well he was completely good until we tried to toilet train him! And everybody just shuts up. :

Yep, Cleo uses the human toilet, and has for about 7 years now. We got her just after we got our house, and I forgot how much I HATED cat litter with a passion. I love cats, but hate litter. (I had been cat-less for 12 years prior) I actually bought a device called "The Kitty Coach" at our local pet store, and I swear it's the best $22 I ever spent. It looked like a children's toilet insert a bit, and it fit over the porcelain rim of the bowl, and had cut outs that you would push out to first introduce water, then more water as each week went by. As each week went, you also decreased the amount of litter in it as well, until you had a few grains and mostly water showing. The voila! no more insert even!

I always tell our company not to mind if they find the toilet unflushed, it's not that we are uncivilized, it's that Cleo refuses to flush! She's actually pretty particular in which toilet she uses - she only goes #2 on the downstairs toilet, but will pee in whatever bowl is unoccupied. A couple of times I've been in there peeing, and she's come running around the corner and given me this face like "Um EXCUSE ME I GOTTA GO!" It's sooo funny.

I just have to say, it's SO nice not having a litterbox in the house.
