    Default My cat is sick

This morning I woke up to blood spots all over the bathroom floor (where the little boxes are). I was in a panic not knowing which cat it was, neither of them have ever been sick before. Well I notice my Calico cat, Angel, squatting and when she got up there were some small drops of blood. I caught her a few other time after that (on my ds coat, in a laundry basket). Well here it is Sunday and the Emergency Animal Clinic wanted $97 just to come in and another $65 just for a urine analysis then there was all the other fees, and medicine. I really wanted to wait until tomorrow to take her to our vet so the bill wouldn't be so hight, but I just couldn't wait. She was in so much pain

Thankfully a local Petsmart has a Banfield clinic open on Sundays and I took her there. It is still going to be spendy, but not as much as the other place. We are waiting to pick her up to find out what is exactly wrong. We are thinking a UTI, but they are also wanting to check for diabetes. I had to leave her there because they had a few emergencies come in and were not sure when they could get to her.

Hopefully Angel just has a UTI and she will be a good girl taking her meds. I haven't had to give her any before, so it will be interesting. I never realized how much I loved my cats!! I love them, but I can believe how scared I was and still am.

    Poor Angel!
I'd be scared, too . . . kitties' plumbing can be so delicate.
The sooner you notice something is "off" & get them to the vet, the better, so whatever it is, you've caught it early.
If she needs pills, the vet will show you how to do it.
Hang in there, and let us know how she does OK?

    Sending healing thoughts . . .

    Thanks!!!

They were not able to get urine for a test, but they did witness her straining to try and pee. She did have a few drop of blood that they saw too. So they sent us home with Clavamox pill. They gave her a shot of an antibiotic and some pain meds. Since they gave her the shot of meds, they couldn't show us how to give the pill to her. DH and I will be attempting in about an hour to give it to her though. We did get a pill dispenser thing though to make it a little easier.

For any who have delt with this, how long before they stop peeing blood? I forgot to ask that as I was just so happy to see her. We just found a few spots, that is what made me think of it now.

    How is she doing today?

If you can't get her to eat her pills in a bit of wet food, ask your vet to give you the liquid form of antibiotic. Much easier to squirt it down her throat, although she won;t thank you for this

    Thanks for asking!

She is doing better and starting to be her old self and fighting with Sadie again. It took me and DH to get the pill in her last night, but I did it all by myself this morning and it only took me 1 try! She does go to the litter box first to try and pee there, but she only gets a drop or two out after about 10 minutes, then she goes into our laundry basket and tries in there for another 5 minutes. I wasn't too happy about this at first, but I figured I would rather her try and pee in the basket and buy a new one then her pee on the carpet or clothes in the kids rooms. So since she tries the litter box first, I will just continure to let her use the basket for another day or two then will take it away.
