    Default Indiscriminate urination *rollseyes*

    *Sigh*

Scooter, is at it again. :

Healthy as a horse, he is. No UTI, no urinary crystals. Litter box(es) get cleaned several times of day. Every 1.5 to 2 weeks, I totally clean the boxes, wash the interior and put all new litter in. I have Feliway plug-ins scattered throughout the house. I also spray the "target" areas.

I am at my wits end. I just can't live in a house that smells of cat urine. I almost never catch him at it. One evening last summer, he wanted to go out. I wouldn't let him because I don't like him outside at night time (we live in a very wooded area.) He went to the door and howled to go out, I picked him up and carried him back to the couch. He immediatly got down and lifted his leg....like a dog....and pissed on the corner of the couch. Spite?? I am almost beginning to think so.

This only happens at nighttime, and only during the summer months. He wants to be outside, but I don't want to risk losing him to a coyote, fox, fisher or owl.

Our home is going to be under construction all summer, and we are moving out to my SIL's camp. I will be mortified if he pisses in a corner there. ???

    Any words of wisdom???

Geez, it sounds like you've tried everything. Does he always go in the same places? If he has one preferred inappropriate place, could you try putting a litterbox there?

It sounds like it's a stress reaction (he's pissed off because he can't go outside). But you are doing the Feliway, so....

Boy, I'm stumped. I will be very curious to see any answers to this one.

It does sound emotional not physical. Our local cat shelter recommends one more box than you have cats, so maybe another box?

Hannah...I have 2 cats and 2 boxes. My vet recommended an extra box as well....but, as you can imagine, space is at a premium here. I already feel like our home is overrun by litter boxes! I really may have to move in this direction.

Nathan, he does have his "favorites" (the little sh*t) but he will often surprise us with finding new areas to eliminate. I love the idea of putting a litter box in one of the spots.

Thanks so much to both of you....hopefully, adding another litter box and putting it in a "prime" area will do the trick.

Our female cat did that any time we had major changes (ie visiting company (more that a day or so) or construction going on). We ended up giving her valium (low dose) ........ we called it her chill pills or happy pills. That seemed to help her handle things better and she would use the litter boxes instead of the house.
