    Default Those with multiple cats

Do your cats get along with each other?

My 2 cats despise one another and have since day one. We always assumed that in time, they'd learn to get along. Um...no. It's been years now and they still break out into skirmishes if they cross paths. They don't harm each other because they were both declawed when I adopted them but I do wish they'd just learn to deal with one another.

Ummmmm...no. But for the most part, all 6 have their area of the house where they frequent the most and that's where they stay for the most part.

I have one who is declawed, and that's only because she was already declawed when we adopted her, and she is the most vocal. SHe likes to play, but doesn't like to be chased. If you could hear her, you'd think something horrible was happening, but I think that's due to her being declawed. I try ti keep her from being harassed too much, though.

Then there are other times when I think, 'Gee, maybe we're mellowing out some', as they are all in the same room and no hissing.

Halle and Marilyn are the two that will growl at whoever happens to be walking by at the moment, usually it's Zach. But they're all ok with the two babies, Alice and Ozzy.

We were hoping that they'd settle, too....

I have Kosmo, Mama Kitty, and Mama's two offspring. Mama and the Twerps get along fine. They sleep together, groom each other, and sometimes play. Occasionally, one of the Twerps gets too close to Mama when she doesn't want her space invaded, and she swats the heck out of 'em! LOL Kosmo doesn't seem to have a problem with Mini-Me the girl Twerp, but they ignore each other. Kosmo loves to harass Mama, but she eggs him on. Lou (the boy Twerp) and Kosmo can't stand each other. They can't walk past each other in a room without it turning into a hissing match! Hissssssss...... Hisssssssssss..... They sound like tires deflating!

My two boys Connor and Wixie chase and wrestle each other. It's vocal and loud especially as both boys are very big. But Deena the little female and Connor hang out together and sometimes sleep together.

    Pillage and Plunder are littermates.

They were inseparable until Plunder returned from the hospital after an ACL surgery.* She took one sniff of his post-surgery aroma, hissed, spat & refused to have anything to do with him.* It really hurt his feelings, & my heart broke for him.* We did the old towel-rub thing which improved matters, but she never really accepted him the same way as before.

Well, the joke's on her now; cause they're all grown up, & he's twice her size.* He loves to stalk her & chase her & make her cry.* And she loves to hiss & spit and never let him catch her (she's twice the athlete he is) .

When danger approaches, though (stranger in the house! Luna in the house! Mama's got the squirt bottle!), they bond like glue and make a mad dash for one of their hiding places . . . side by side . . . no hissing . . . 2 pairs of eyes staring out from under the daybed.

In hindsight, I wish I had taken BOTH of them to the hospital that fateful day . . .

Well, my four tolerate each other most of the time but if anyone is going to have a blue it will be Boris and Lucy. Of course it is big fat Lucy who always comes off second best.

    Won't someone please feed me!

For the most part Murphy and Mike get along. Sometimes we catch them sleeping together or grooming each other. But when Mike is hungry Watch Out!!! He attacks jumps on Murphys back to make him yell.

Mike and Rory get along beautifully though, they are the real buds.

Mine are outdoor cats, and yes they do get along very well. Every now and then they get that "evil look" ... you know the one I'm talking about... where they will pounce on the other cat... and maybe not be so gentle. But those episodes are few and far between. For the most part I think they enjoy each other's company. I have a male and female (spayed and neutered). They've been around for about ten years now.

Both of ours get along most of the time... TJ, our oldest cat, occasionally harasses Jasmine (our other cat ) and bear (6lb maltese).

Well my queen and her husband love each other, but I kept one of their daughters and they both beat her up regularly.

Mind you she is a bot of a drama queen herself and screams blue murder if her dad whops her !
