Default Question about my niece's kitty.

My niece lives with her mom and older brother. Christmas 2004 my niece's dad bought her a kitten. From a pet store. Without even asking her mother. :

Anyway... everything's been fine until recently. The cat has just started attacking Abi out of nowhere. Once while she was in bed asleep and once when she was sitting on the couch. Both times scratching and biting her face.

Cleo doesn't act out in any way toward Abi's mom or her brother.

Do you have any idea why she would be behaving this way and singling Abi out on top of it?

Sounds like our Roxi. . . after she had her spay surgery (at 1 1/2 years-- long story) her personality totally flipped. She would lie in wait for me or guests and then jump on them with claws extended, several times biting at them. She terrorized my other cats (and one of the dogs) as well. After a full examination (nothing turned up) and discussion with our vet and long, painful deliberation as to whether she would be rehomable, we decided to send her to the Bridge.

Not all cases end up this way-- I always recommend that owners see their vet. Sometimes subtle changes to their environment (inside OR outside-- like cats moving into the neighborhood that they can see or hear from inside) trigger this reaction and through some interventions things can be done.

They've decided that the next time Abi's dad comes to visit, he's going to take the cat back with him to live.
