Easy, affordable, and fun cat toys

Here's an article with some great ideas for easy toys to give your cat from things you might have laying around the house. Something that has been a huge hit at my house is the gigantic brown paper leaf bags that they have at hardware stores. I just cut the bottom out and Voila! Zabby's got a tunnel .

For Scooter and Maggie, the world is their playground.

One thing, in particular, they like are discarded bows off Christmas or Birthday presents. In fact, when Scoot was a kitten, he used to carry one around with him all the time.

Molly LOVES Q-tips. She'll play with one for hours. Sometimes I'll put a bath mat down and poke a Q-tip (a clean one!) out from under it. That will keep her going for most of the day.

Alice is our sock munchkin...she carries them all over the place. When you go to match socks, you can never find tha mates!

Marilyn used to carry the kids beanie babies (mind you, these were the ones that we had run out of room for in their rooms and were in boxes in the basement'til she found them) around, meowing as she went. My sister used to work at a store that carries them, so she got Marilyn some of her own babies. Now she happily meows with her own babies. I find them in bed with me all the time!

Today's "found toy" report: Molly played with a paper clip under my desk for half an hour while I was trying to write. Nearby, a dozen balls and toy mice lay untouched.

Large sheets of wrapping paper are always a hit at my house!! So are hairspray cap (not too small, of course.)

Pillage & Plunder love bright shiny things, so they raid my jewelry box alot.

They also like the rustley things.* They will play with paper wads until the wads are properly "Killed," then they avoid them like the dead things they are.* SU & I have trouble figuring out sometimes which ones still have enough life in them to be in the game; luckily Pillage & Plunder are quick to let us know if we try to toss the wrong toy!*
