Default Cat on a diet.. Green beans?

Well my Oliver is on a diet. He's weighing 13,82 lbs today. So he's lost 1,76 lbs. Still need to lose 3,3-4,4 lbs yet.

He's fed dryfood. He's neutered and 10 years old. Indoor cat.

I feed light senior (and a bit of hairball senior, as he's always shedding and this is to prevent the hairballs)

He's supposed to be fed 1,76 oz a day, I've lowered it to 1,41 oz and feed 1 oz of green beans (and a bit of carrot).

Does anyone know if I should give him more veggies?? He's constantly hungry.. And when Oliver's hungry, there's no mistaking it.. He miaus.. loud and long and keeps miauing...

    Mr Chubby himself:

Oh! I think he looks great, Jeanette! I've never had to put a cat on a diet, so I'm a little clueless here. I guess the green beans would be fine for filler, just make sure if they are canned you rinse them well to remove excess salt.

    Thank you Nance

I cant get canned beans here in Denmark, so I buy them frozen (blanched). I take them out of the freezer the day before and let them thaw in the fridge.

He was a little hesitant in the beginning.. But now he eats everything.. And all at once.

I've split it out over 3 meals a day. 2/4 in the morning, 1/4 (and the veggies) at dinner and 1/4 before bedtime.

He's running around more.. getting his mad 5 minutes where he whirls through the room and leave me and Luna sitting looking at eachother: what happened??? ;D

I'm gonna keep this up.. Might ask the vet on tuesday, when I go there with Luna..

I've never had a cat that would eat green beans....I should also say that I;ve never tried to feed one regularly, either, though.

I suppose as long as he is getting his complete nutrition and you decrease his food slowly, it sounds good. I know you have to be very careful when putting cats on a diet, it is hard on their liver. It's great your boy will eat grean beans, extra fiber is always a good idea. He sure is handsome.
