    Default liver disease in cats

I know this thread dosen't get much action, but. Has anybody had a cat with liver disease and had any luck treating it? My Max was just diagnosed today and just trying to find out info on it.

    Thanks,
    Kristen

I don't have any personal experience with liver disease in cats. I'm sorry to hear about Max's diagnosis, I hope it's treatable. It can be scary trying to do research on the web, but if you stick to reputable sites like Cornell veterinary school, etc. hopefully you can get some answers. Has your vet recommended a specialist? Or maybe a university vet school for a second opinion? Might be worth looking into.

Good thoughts for you and Max.

After three long days at our vet with no plan for treatment, options etc, we got transferred to a specialist. Ugh, that's another story. Anyway the specialist has been wonderful with Max. He is coming home today, with a feeding tube, but is doing very well. Barring any setbacks he should make close to it or a full recovery. Never thought I'd have a cat with a feeding tube, but here we are :=)

Good thoughts for Max. It sounds like you're a wonderful pet mom. I hope he makes a full recovery and that the feeding tube doesn't have to be in for long at all. I do understand that cats can do very well with them.

I know this thread is a couple months old...but we went through that with Norm and he's a very robust kitty now. He HATED that tube, but it saved his life!

Max is now tube free for about a month/month and a half. And eats like a pig.
