Hello from Northern NJ. We just got a new 8 week old, male puppy. We named him Tanner. So far he's wonderful. He goes outside, sleeps through the night, and really retrieves. My recently deceased lab used to retrieve but never gave it up once he got it in his mouth. He liked the "keep away game". This one just drops it 9 out of 10 times. I'm thrilled!
I have one question. I forgot how long the teething lasts. I know they always like the toys, but does anybody know about what age they get it under control? It's been so long since we've had a puppy in the house that I've forgotten.
Congratulations on your new furry baby! I am sure you will enjoy your visits to this forum.
I am not an expert, but I can tell you how it went with my puppy. I am not sure if by "teething" you meant the biting or the coming out of his new teeth.
I taught Henna not to bite from the very beginning. I got her when she was almost 12 weeks old and I would say Ay! Ay! Ay! - "NO BITE" (I speak to her in English and Spanish :whatever: ) and walked away from her. She learned pretty fast. Sometimes she is playing with me and if I say "I Love You", she get the sound of the "I" and stops... so now I tell her "luv you".... :embarrass:
Her new teeth came out (I think) by 4 months...
It sounds like you got a natural retriever there... Congratulations!!
PS: Please post some pictures when you get a chance!
Welcome to the forum !
Hi! Welcome from Warren County! I can't remember exactly how long the teething lasted, I think around 3-4 months. One thing I do remember tho is that it starts all over again around 6 months when the puppy teeth start falling out.
Welcome from WI; great to have you & Tanner on the board.
Congrats on your new little one!

Thanks for all the welcomes! Tanner had his puppy vet visit today and he's actually 9 weeks now and 14.5 lbs. He seems to be growing bigger every time I look at him. We are hopelessly in love with him. I did get some good ideas from the vet about the teething. One I found interesting - he told me to buy the blue kongs when he gets bigger because if they do chew one apart and swallow some of it, the blue kong shows up in the x-rays.
I'll post more pics when I get time. I love looking at all the pics.
