Hi, My name is Les
My wife and I are just getting started with a Search and Rescue dog group and we are doing research to find the right breed for use. We are currently torn between Labs and German Shepherds.
My goal in joining this forum is to talk to others that are using Labs for SAR work and meet a good breeder for my future pup.
Good luck in your search, you have 2 of the best choices! I love both breeds but labs are my absolute favorite. Let us knoww what you decide.
Life is short, play with your dogs!

Sometimes the hardest part isn't letting go - but learning to start over.
Welcome to the forum - you may want to post in Lab Chat to get more responses on this question. Labs and GSDs are quite different, I am sure you know. If you can share your state/location it will help to guide you to a breed club in your area.
Never mind - I see you are from Utah. There is no LRC in Utah but in:
Colorado- LRCGD - Home Page
Arizona - index
New Mexico - Labrador Retriever Club of Albuquerque (this site does not look active anymore)

Sharon, Blaise and Diesel.
I am aware that they are completely different breeds, I have worked with GSD in the past, my in-laws have 3 Schutzhund dogs and my fear of that breed is getting more Prey than Play drive.
I am in the Orem/Provo area of Utah.
Welcome to the forum and good luck finding the right dog for you.
