Just about a month into owning my first lab and loving it! I think I really lucked out because Samson doesn't seem to be the high energy, destructive type that I have read about (knock on wood!). Very calm and loving and already can't imagine my life without him!
The snottiness in my dog Layla didn't start for me until around 3 or 4 months and didn't stop until around a year. Just remember when they do become snotty, don't get mad, just show/train your dog how to act and not act.
And in contrast, I never had any period of "snottiness" with my pup, Blaise. You pup may continue to be easy and calm.
Welcome to the board!
Sharon, Blaise and Diesel.
No snottiness from any lab I have ever owned either.
Life is short, play with your dogs!

Sometimes the hardest part isn't letting go - but learning to start over.
Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I am hoping his temperament and personality stays as calm as it has been! He has been a blessing!
I was new to labs when i joined this forum (still am), and a lot of people here are helpful. My lab hasn't shown much of the destructive behavior either.
You will never regret getting a lab! Welcome to the forum!

We sure love our labby Sophie. She doesn't have a snotty bone in her body. She does give us adventures though! She can sure get herself in some situations! She's never been snippy or even seemed agitated or angry.

Snotty=adolescence? We've been told labs mature slowly, and not to expect Watson to hit puberty until he's 6 months old. He's 4 1/2 months now, getting a bit tetchy, starting to enjoy a morning lay in, and humping his bedding. Or, as my partner pointed out, acting like a young teenager.
We love him to bits though, and the only gripe I have is that my two Bengals haven't taken to him yet, his bounciness still scares them off. To be fair though, Rug does tease him through his pen walls, and has tried to steal his chews on occasion.
Welcome. My Jack did the puppy nipping for awhile but has the nicest nature and we never had any snippyness from him either. I cannot believe what a wonderful disposition he has with people and other dogs. Love him to bits.
