Recently rescued a lab from the local county dog pound. Just joined this site to learn more about the breed. So far, I'm wondering what took so long for me to get a lab.![]()
Money will buy you a pretty good dog, but it won't buy the wag of his tail. - Unknown

hi and welcome
Wanted a playmate for our neutered male Austrailian Shepherd, so we looked at a few adult dogs. Came across this girl at the dog pound, and took the Aussie to meet her. They seemed to hit it off, and the pound has a 10-day money-back guarantee, so we took her home. After a trip to the vet for spay, shots, and tests, we found she was heart worm positive. The heart worm treatment is nasty (and expensive), but we had already fallen in love with her, so there really wasn't any choice but to do it. She was miserable for about 2-3 days and our Aussie was very sweet to her during this time. It's like they know. My wife took really good care of her during this time and now it seems the dog thinks she needs to pay us back. She's the most affectionate dog I've ever owned, and the only lab I've ever owned. She's starting to put a little weight on and has some spunk, so it seems she's feeling much better. I need to get her re-checked in February for the heart worm, so we pray that her test is negative. It's a little hard to get used to the tail wagging all the time as our last 2 dogs have been the docked variety (Aussies). She's a pleasure to have around. Thanks for all the interest and the welcome!
