Hello everyone, just found this site. Our family will be adopting a chocolate lab this week (he is getting neutered). He is a 9 week old that we found at the shelter. Seems to be a pure lab, but I suppose there is no way to be 100% on that, and it really does not matter to us anyways as he will be a family pet and we don't care about that. This will be our families second lab, our yellow, Molly, died two years ago of cancer (she was 9 and great girl). We decided that its is time again for a dog and we were open many different breeds, but when we saw this little guy the search was over. Thanks for the great site.
Welcome from another Illinoier(is that even a word?lol) Congrats on the new family member and sorry bout the loss of Molly. What part from IL u from?

We're Illinoisans, Deidra.
I have inlaws that live in Lockport. Welcome.
Well, just got some bad news. The pup we are looking has parvovirus. The shelter was going to put him down if we did no take him. I told them I still wanted him contingent on what my vet said. Ended up that the shelter and vet are willing donate 3 days of vet care for the little guy. We are going to do everything we can to get him better. We don't have another dog that he could infect and the vet said his outlook is very good as he is a strong pup and showed very minor signs of dehydration when we dropped him off. I know there are people that might say we should look at another dog, but I just can't give up on him that easy. I hope it all works out for the little guy, he's very sweet and deserves a chance.
First of all welcome. I am so sorry your puppy has parvo, that is one nasty virus and i pray that he makes it and lives a long happy life with your family. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
Life is short, play with your dogs!

Stopped in to visit the little guy at the vet on my into work today. He seemed to be doing better, was happy, jumping up, barking. My Vet says he has a really good chance and should be able to go home by the weekend.
