Meet Abby

Hello,

We are the proud owners of Abby, our just over 8 weeks, female yellow Lab puppy.

After only 3 days, still getting settled in but we are improving a little each day. We have already learned a lot from this great forum...thanks!

We look forward to sharing and learning as we go.

Welcome. Enjoy the forum. This is not the easiest time of the year to start a new puppy but persistance will make a companion you can enjoy for years to come.

Welcome! Abby sure is a cutie. Enjoy the puppy stage, it can be frustrating and adorable at the same time but it goes by so quickly. Good luck!

Thanks to all. Abby had a very busy day today. Took her to Petco for some food and supplies while everyone there made a fuss over her - she even got a bag of treats. She is very good in the car as she sleeps most of the time.
Campfire_dog, you are right about the time of year. We had been saying that when we get a puppy it'll be in the spring....for the last several years! The timing just seemed to work out now for us. She's not too thrilled going out at night in the cold for a bathroom break but is getting better every day and the warm weather we've been having here in NE PA is a blessing too.
Have to go rescue the carpet and the magazine rack from her puppy teeth - she gets bolder by the minute!

Be sure that when you take her to public places frequented by unknown dogs that you keep her in your arms (or in the cart) until she is fully vaccinated. She should not be on the floor at a store or at your vet at this age.

Thanks for the tip. We carried her the whole time except when she wanted to investigate the yummy smelling dog food and treats!
