Hi my name is Marie....I have a 12yr old black lab that I have had since she was 8 wks old. She is suffering from arthritis and is on Demaraxx and glucosamine....I have a feeling she doesnt have much longer, so I joined in order to get some feedback and support.
Hi, and welcome to the forum. It is so difficult when our doggies get old. We lost our 12 yr old suddenly in May. It was so hard, and I still miss her so much. Other than the arthritis, how is her health otherwise?

We just lost our Great Dane to cancer in August. She was 10. We were really worried about her legs going as she aged, and she was just starting to show signs of arthritis. I hope Tasha can keep her mobility as long as possible.
Welcome to the forum.
Sharon - still not a dude.
Welcome.
Never give up hope. There are always things we can do and beleiving in ourselves and dogs helps the dark days.
Erns has had severe HD since I adopted him at 3.5. I was devestated when the vet said this is bad news and he wont live to be an old dog. He is 10 in Novemeber. There have been dark times, but wwe ride them out to fight another day.
I keep Erns moving and in wamrer weather swimming. He has monthly injections of Pentosan and without this he would be in a lot more pain. I give him Synoflux, green lip muscle and if needed Tramadol. I know at some point he will be on daily Tramadol which will mean looking at quality of life.
Good thoughts for Tasha.

Tasha is still fairly happy, she is limping due to one of her front legs and her back legs are weak. she still eats and drinks but has a hard time going up and down the deck stairs.....I took her out to visit our neighbour and she was very happy.....We are going to hang in there, I think it is too early to make a decision and I want to try different meds. What is Pentosan and synoflux? I just really feel bad for her, she has always been so energetic and happy silly dog....she deterioted really fast, hopefully she doesnt get any worse soon.
Gosh I sometimes forget living in another country we call things by a different name. Pentosan 100 Injection
You need to have a series of 4 them to build it up in the system then the minimum is once a month or every 6 months. My vet ssays some dogs do very well on every 3-4 months. Erns used to be 6 weeks in winter and 8 in summer.
Not sure if it is Pentosan under another name could be Cartropen. Not Cartofen which is Rimadyl.
I thought Cartrophen worked better, but the vet says they are all the same.
Synoflex I get from the vet, but here here one. Synflex for Dogs. I use Synoquin now as it easier to get.
Erns will go down hill very quickly, then comes back up. Last winter I thought this was his last, and we thought we would have to make the decision, but we made it through and he is still here.
Before Erns was diagnosed with Crohns he had Metacam with the injections.
