I just went downstairs and saw this guy on the kitchen floor.  I think it's a wolf spider, but I'm not sure.  (Of course I put him back outside where he belongs.)

Ohhhhh, that gave me the willies big time!!  I don't think we have those in California -- gosh I hope not -- I'm going on the internet to find out.  Gosh that sucker is big!

OK -- I guess there are many species of wolf spiders -- I suppose we have them out here, too!  Perhaps I've seen one, but never one the size of yours!  I don't mind spiders too much and always catch them and let them go outside.  That one might be a bit indimidating, though Shocked.

That one definitely startled me a bit.  Of course I was in bare feet and came around the corner and there it was right in my path.  I'm glad I was paying attention - but he was kind of hard to miss.

At that size, it defnitely is a bit intimidating, but at least they are easy to see and are generally easy to catch (this guy stayed still long enough for me to put down a ruler and take several pictures...)

Spiders don't usually bother me unless they take me by surprise!  Are wolf spiders the ones that jump?

we have those spiders in our school building and they get pretty big.  we usually kill them because if you get bitten by one, you swell up like a prize fighter for about a week.  i'm always worried they are going to come down off a web and land on me.  BLUH

It is a wolf spider.  Harmless but they do and can bite.  I got bit on the toe by one and it hurt like a s.o.b.  Tongue

Well if Keith Whitley were still with us and happened to be in my backyard at that time, we probably would've done more like a fast shuffle away from that big spider!

EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Filling in for Nick until he gets here...

Oh my gosh, I would have FREAKED out! I've seen those a few times around here too. I HATE spiders! Terrified of them! I have my own personal spider-removal service named Kevin. It works pretty well. I am very thankful for it. Shocked

That baby would have died and very quickly! I would still be crying if I saw that in or near my house.

I am okay with spiders, the ones I see around the house are usually very small. Just the way I like 'em. I don't normally kill them, because they always run away. If they come near me they die. Quickly but horribly.
