I bred a dream "quazi-field" breeding 6 wks ago. I say "quazi" as it's a line breeding on a GMHR/Am/Mex/Intl FCI CH/MH (Cook's Midnight Bandit) who has some dual Swedish blood behind his mom. The stud used is a MH who is from 50/50 field/show breeding, sired by a QAA field trial dog (Merganser's Matlock). Hudson has a TON of "go" and I was really thrilled to have him here at my place for the breeding in Sept. Oh my... he'd have a CDX in NO TIME with me... Talk about working spunk.... style, pizzazzz!!!! Wowweee!
Anyhow, I'm so excited to announce that my 3 yo Mata is 6 wks pregnant today and suddenly looks as though she swallowed a watermelon this week!!!! :-* 8)
She's Intl CH WindyCanyon's Northern Spy CDX JH RA NA NAJ CC (2 Qs toward OA and training for SH) "Mata". Hips good, elbows normal, heart normal, CERF annually since 7.5 wks, CNM clear, EIC clear. Sire is Intl CH Merganser's Hi-Rollin Hudson CD MH CC "Hudson"... hips good, elbows normal, heart normal, CERF annually, CNM/EIC/PRA clear. This is Huddy's FIRST litter too, so Liz, his owner, and I would like share our happy news. Thanks for listening! Anne

We have puppies! 8) Starting at 1:50 am Sunday, I laughed as FIVE big Black girls were born in a row. I told Mata she'd better have a couple boys left in there... and within a short time, out came TWO big Black Boys! 8) I was most surprised at the weights on the pups given that both parents are small-- 2 @15 oz, 4 @ 17oz, and 1 at 18.5 oz! All have gained 1+ to 3+ oz as of this morning already.
So one thing that appears fairly certain is either God played w/ his wacky set of color dice again (the sex breakdown was about perfect!), or Mata is dominant for Black (very possible as both of her parents were Bc's). Color wasn't a factor in doing this particular breeding anyhow, but now I'm thinking the door may have just been opened wider for me to breed into some yellow lines down the road with her... Isn't it funny how some things just happen? Here they are:
