Inland Valley Retriever Club will be conducting a series of 10 basic field training sessions aimed at introducing/promoting fieldwork to retriever owners. We will work with you to develop good basic obedience skills and instill a love of retrieving.
Classes will be held at Prado Dog Training area in Chino, CA off the 71 fwy. The starting date will be Saturday, June 14, 2008 with classes to continue on Sunday, June 15, 2008 for 5 consecutive weekends. The final session will be on Sunday, July 13, 2008. The time will be from 8AM-12 noon each session. Cost per session is $15 with a reduced gate fee of $10 per session. We will meet in the campground by the picnic tables for the beginning sessions.
Topics covered in the sessions will include but not be limited to:
*Water introduction and retrieves.
*Making sure you’re the lead dog in your pack.
*Introduction to decoys, live birds, gunshots, duck calls.
*Socialization to hunting and hunt test scenarios.
*Basic obedience skills needed for fieldwork.
*Developing and extending marking skills.
*HOMEWORK!!!
What to bring: Leash for first session. We will be discussing what other equipment you will need at that session.
All retrieving breeds and their owners are welcome. We are gearing this class to successful completion of a WC or Junior hunting title.
Fees from these training sessions will be used to defray duplication costs and reserve a date this winter for a seminar with Evan Graham.

In spite of my SU's annoyance with it starting on Father's Day weekend, we'll be there. I hope we can make it to most of these, actually. What a great opportunity!![]()

LOL- the only reason we celebrate Father's Day is because of the dogs and because of our fathers. We don't have kids yet.Originally Posted by 2Labpups

Unfortunately, attendance is down in local hunt tests and unless there are training days like this to get new people interested, the sport ends :'( Hopefully you all can convince your clubs to hold training days, if just once a month.
