I'm working with a professional trainer who recommends an e-collar for my 6-month lab. He says Bella is very "independent." My dog and I plan to do a lot of pheasant hunting this fall. However, I don't want to spend $350+ for a high-end e-collar system (Dogtra 2500). Would a basic unit, such as the SportDog 1800 or Tri-Tronic G3 work just as well for around $230? Looking for advice.
The main difference in Dogtra and TriTronics low end vs. high end products is the range and the "add another dog" feature. The less expensive models have a 1/2 mile range as opposed to a mile. I think you would be fine with most Dogtra or TriTronics collars. Avoid other brands like the plague.

I have the tritronics flyway special and am happy with it -- it is probably 10 years old and I did have to have it replaced in the first year, company was great to work with.
