Today for training I set up a water triple. Straight forward around the horn. I'm up on the dam and the dog is going out for the middle mark. She is in about the middle of the pond.
I sneezed and she popped. I calmly said back. She turned back around, finished swimming and picked up the mark.
How would that be judged in a FT or a Master Hunt test?
I've made plenty of mistakes in training that would cause the pop. I'm really just wondering about the judging aspect.
It depends what stake. Popping in minor stakes is not a serious fault. They would note it and if it continued it wouldn't go in your favor. I ran a qualifying and it was early in the morning and blackbirds were chirping and my dog thought it was a whistle and popped. Fortunately the dog in front of me did the same thing. We were both called back. The judges actually looked it up in the rulebook and it can be ruled confusion because of the circumstances.
If the dog did it again I would say you would be gone. In HT heavens only knows what some of those judges do and why.
