I have a major problem! I will throw a bumper for my dog and my dog will not return and if you going towards him he will run off, he also will sit and just chew on the bumper and I mean chew. I have tried turning away and walking away he will just not stop. I am at wits end any help please. Thanks Boomer
Bentley did the same thing with running off. I do not hunt with him but i like to play fetch and not have to run a mile to catch him. I just started using a long line and showing him he brings it back he gets a treat and gets to retreiver again. He still has a problem with not listening but I keep a leash attached to him but im slowley "weaining" him off of it.

How old is Boomer? I agree w/ the above, put him on a long line or flexi. If he's old enough to collar condition (and if you are amenable to that), I'd do that as well. Anne

I used a check lead with both my boys, to teach them to bring it back to me. It didn't take either of them long to figure out that if they brought it back, I'd throw it again.
He is 7 months sounds good, as soon as I figure out how to post pics I will. The one thing with him is he weighs over 95 lbs so he is really BIG but he does not look it. He is very lean and long and long legs. Thank you for the help
You need a check cord. I have several PermaTack cords that I like very much. Actually the best you can buy.
It's not a retrieve problem. It's "Here" issue.
Go back and teach "Here".
