Ive found a breeder who has dogs that go back to certain blood lines.
Also she says the litter is line bred. Is this a good or a bad thing?
Thanks for your help.
When I am researching a Pedigree I always google the names first and see where (if anything) these names appear in other Pedigree's. One would assume by looking at the names you picked that "Cassle Weeks" and/or Cornlands are breeders or that is the Kennel name they use but I did not find anything on the web or on Labrador sites. So not much I can help you with there.
As far as Line Breeding it really depends.. Some breeders prefer a look therefore will breed their lines back to each other such as grandfather to grandaughter etc. So not always a bad thing sometimes really good when you are looking to keep a look, soundness, or Pedigree in your kennel. But just remember that you are doubling their bad faults as well. So if you don't like their tailset or Front you could have double the issue then what you prefer.

Here's the AKC link to the pedigree page. You need to go through the research pedigree (online only) section.
http://www.akc.org/store/reports/index.cfm
You will need to create an account to use it, but that is free.![]()
You can also find out a lot about dogs through searching through the pedigrees on the OFA site (as long as they have their clearances listed, I suppose): www.offa.org
There are all sorts of pedigree sites- look up "labrador pedigree search" or "labrador pedigree list" and you could find a number of places to look.
ETA: Ix-nay on the OFA site...I just went to check for the kennel names and only see a couple dogs on there, period, neither of which are *these* dogs. Sorry. Are they from way back in the pedigree or possibly from another country?

The only one ive heard of so far is Cornlands. Apparantly that was quite a popular breeder some time ago. Thats about all i know.
I found a bunch of the Cornlands dogs on www.gooddoginfo.com- you have to pay for a membership there, but only found this list (the one you mentioned is not mentioned anywhere):Originally Posted by Johno

If someone says they're line breeding, ask them what the objectives of their breeding program are. Eg, how do they rank show results, health, temperament, and working ability? Is their ideal lab what you want? Can they tell you about the health stats of not only the sire and dam, but also their sire and dam . . . and their siblings?
