Thank you everyone. The cheek swabs are on their way to the lab and I met with the bitch's owner yesterday. It seems that she always uses a vet tech she knows for this so I'll just get a call and load Ben into the car and meet them. Then I get to just watch and learn this time around (phew)! I really appreciate your help. I'm reading a book on dog breeding and I'm beginning to understand how much I SHOULD know about the female side of things too. Dog breeding has changed alot since I was a vet tech 25 years ago. Again...thank You

Contact his mother's breeder - Timesquare Labradors. She would be happy to help you. Why aren't you asking Dana (his breeder) for help?

I have been in contact with Dana. She's been in Texas and will call upon her return. She okayed the breeding by email but said she'd talk upon her return. I also contacted Jeanne but she's in Puerto Rico judging and said we could talk upon her return and I had the chance to meet with the bitch's owner Saturday without traveling an hour. The timing is just weird that's all. Dana's been wonderful to work with. I really don't know Ben's mothers breeder and honestly never thought of that but thank you for your suggestions.
    P.S...How did you know?

I just remember when you posted about getting him and showing, etc and you posted his pedigree and I am very good friends with Amy from Timesquare. She has your dog's sister Carlisle. Amy would be very happy to help you any way she can - she's awesome. Email me for her contact info - [email protected]

I have met her once! Sorry..but I remember dog names better than people and at Sept. Carroll County Kennel Club show I met Carlisle and then Amy! She was very nice and critiqued Ben for us (after that my husband didn't want to show Ben again! LOL!). Ben isn't going to set the show world by storm but having a point, and a BOB with that point, and I think it's 5 reserves...he's decent enough for a beginner to start with. In the end I have only two goals for Ben as a stud dog...my next show puppy (and that will be in a few years) and a good looking pet quality puppy for my favorite niece and her new husband.
    Thank you again

Ben had his first encounter of the female kind. He was wonderful, a real gentleman but very flirtatious as well and before I knew what was happening the Tech had the sample and Ben was looking around going WTH? She looked at his sperm under the microscope and then declared his sperm "phenomenal"....that's when I realized I really am sort of his pimp!
